Aren’t we all sensitive people with so much to give…? Then what happened to the value of that?
We’re sensitive beings. All of us. Our sensitivity doesn’t represent weakness. It represents newness, wonder, and the artfulness of being alive. As children, we seek to share that with everyone. Until people come at us with their anger, their sadness, their trauma and/or their deceit.
Then we begin to throw up guards to keep ourselves safe. Our brains create patterns to protect us and the joy we remember.
Before long, we get older and with age, and what we call “wisdom,” we begin to shut down little bit by little bit, or large bit by larger bit. As we shut down, we begin to close off places in ourselves that were meant for love. And as we shut down some more, we find ourselves at a loss for a road map to get back to being loving like we were when we were fully open to the world.
This is the conundrum of living… how do we keep safe and be vulnerable to what’s truly possible at the same time?
We’re sensitive beings. All of us. Our sensitivity doesn’t represent weakness. It represents newness, wonder, and the artfulness of being alive.
